Mexico ranks among the world's ten largest coffee producers and has a vibrant coffee culture. Most coffees come from smallholder farmers who maintain traditional farming methods.
Growing Regions
Chiapas
Located in the south bordering Guatemala. Volcanic soils and elevations up to 1,800 m produce excellent quality. Chiapas accounts for roughly one-third of Mexican coffee.
Oaxaca (Pluma Hidalgo)
Famous for the legendary Pluma coffee – soft, sweet, and with fine nuttiness. One of the country's oldest growing regions.
Veracruz
Lower elevations along the Gulf of Mexico. Bold, earthy coffees with chocolatey notes.

Organic Pioneer
Mexico was one of the first countries with organic coffee certification. Many cooperatives in Chiapas and Oaxaca produce exclusively organic coffee.
